As the “web series” fever has caught Tollywood as well, many big production houses have started their own digital wings such that they will produce content and sell it off to big players like Amazon, Netflix and Hotstar. But then, the way these producers are picking content hasn’t changed at all.
To read scripts or listen to narrations, a big production house actually roped in two directors who are known as old horses. One of them came up with a disaster while launching a star kid and the other one is known for making producers spend huge money over ripped (copied) stories. These two are said to be taking the final call when it comes to selecting web series scripts for this production house.
Talk is that the two neither understand the modern generation’s requirements when it comes to watching web series, or they have some new ideas such that they could guide youngsters delivering new-age tales through this medium. The two are said to be finalising those routine dramas and polluting the web world with their age-old old-school formulaic thoughts.
Guess what, due to these two, many young Telugu filmmakers are now said to be rushing to other producers, while this company is roping in some young Tamil directors to create content for them.
