Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is one of the most awaited Indian films set to release on August 14, 2025. This film marks Superstar Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with Lokesh, who is known for hits like Kaithi, Master, Vikram, and Leo. The movie features a star-studded cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra Rao, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and a special cameo by Bollywood icon Aamir Khan.

The buzz surrounding the film extends beyond its storyline and cast to the impressive salaries paid to the actors and director. Rajinikanth reportedly commands between ₹150 crore and ₹250 crore, solidifying his position as one of the highest-paid actors in the country, even at the age of 74. Nagarjuna, who plays the antagonist Simon, has charged between ₹24 crore and ₹30 crore for his role, which Rajinikanth himself has praised as a well-written villain character. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has taken a fee of ₹50 crore for helming the project.

Shruti Haasan and Upendra Rao have each been paid around ₹4 crore for their roles, while Pooja Hegde, who appears in the special song “Monica” composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has charged ₹3 crore. Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir earned ₹1 crore for his part. Notably, Aamir Khan made a cameo appearance without charging any fee, as a mark of respect for Rajinikanth.

With its massive budget, star power, and high-profile salaries, Coolie is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most ambitious films in Indian cinema this year.
