Ustaad Bhagat Singh: Pawan Kalyan’s Cop Drama Sparks Remake Speculation

The shooting of Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming cop drama Ustaad Bhagat Singh has been completed, and the makers are now searching for an ideal release date in April next year. However, speculation continues on whether the film is an official remake of Thalapathy Vijay’s blockbuster Theri.

Director Harish Shankar has remained tight-lipped on this matter, while the makers insist that the film will not feel like a remake. Despite this, industry insiders and media reports suggest that Ustaad Bhagat Singh may be loosely based on Theri, with the core storyline adapted for the Telugu audience.

Harish Shankar is known for giving fresh treatment to remake scripts, infusing them with Telugu flavor and mass elements to suit Tollywood sensibilities. Similar to what he did with Gabbar Singh—an official remake of Salman Khan’s Dabangg—he is believed to have tailored the script of Theri to match Pawan Kalyan’s mannerisms and style.

Recently, Mythri Movie Makers producer Ravi expressed confidence that Ustaad Bhagat Singh will exceed expectations due to its strong content. He assured that the film will create a box office sensation and maintain a unique identity without any “remake feel.”

Fans will have to wait until promotions begin to know how closely Harish Shankar’s story is inspired by Theri. The team plans to release the first single around the New Year.
