A. Kodandarami Reddy, one of the most respected filmmakers in Telugu cinema, is currently enjoying a well-deserved retirement. While he may have stepped away from the limelight, his legacy continues through his sons, who have carved a niche for themselves in Tamil cinema.

His younger son, Vaibhav Reddy, made his acting debut in Telugu with Godava, but found consistent success in Tamil films. His elder son, Sunil Reddy, has also established himself as a talented actor. The brothers recently came together on screen for a Tamil film titled Perusu, which is now drawing attention for its unique premise.

Perusu, which hit theatres on March 15, is currently streaming on Netflix, including a Telugu dubbed version. Falling under the genre of light-hearted adult comedy, the film offers an unusual yet intriguing storyline. Vaibhav plays Durai, while Sunil portrays his older brother Sami, a school teacher. The narrative takes a wild turn when their peaceful lives are disrupted by the sudden death of their father — with the bizarre twist being that his body, even in death, displays an erection.

Though the plot might initially sound odd or even risqué, Perusu steers clear of cheap humor. Instead, it blends heart and humor, focusing on how the brothers and their inner circle go to great lengths to protect their father’s dignity amidst the awkward situation. The film handles the sensitive topic with a surprisingly light touch and delivers laughs without losing emotional depth.

Directed by Ilango Ram and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, Perusu is inspired by the 2023 Sri Lankan film Tentigo. With its unique storyline and a fine balance of comedy and emotion, the film is gaining traction among audiences across languages.
