Life can sometimes feel like a tiny flickering diya in a vast, dark room—shaky and uncertain. But for Vaishnavi Chaitanya, the light steadies in the presence of her mother. The ‘Baby’ actress opens up about the warmth her family, her little dog Bujji, and the Diwali spirit bring to her world. “If the environment is good, everything around feels good. That’s why I try an eco-friendly Diwali,” she laughs. Even amidst busy film schedules, Vaishnavi loves decorating, planning gifts, and, of course, worrying about Bujji, who isn’t fond of loud crackers.
At her home, Diwali preparations begin a week in advance. From arranging lamps and flowers to planning balcony decor, everything is meticulously sorted. This year, her mother took over the market runs and returned with everything needed for the festival. The family puja is an elaborate affair, stretching from morning till night, culminating around eleven. Only then does the true celebration begin—sweets, chatter, a little dancing, and Bujji safely included. Firecrackers are kept simple, eco-friendly, and stress-free for everyone, especially the pooch.
When it comes to festive attire, Vaishnavi usually opts for sarees all day. But when it’s time for crackers, practicality wins—she switches to a chudidar or sharara, as sarees aren’t ideal for running around. Yet, for her, the festival has never been about the clothes. The real light comes from her family: her mom, dad, brothers, and little Bujji. “Mom is my ultimate inspiration. My strength comes from her,” she says with a casual sincerity. For Vaishnavi, Diwali is a celebration of love, laughter, and togetherness—the perfect balance of light in life’s little dark corners.
