Former Gannavaram MLA and YCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in Hyderabad. He is being transported to Vijayawada for further interrogation. Vamsi is accused of being involved in the attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office in Gannavaram. Tensions escalated after Vamsi made derogatory remarks about TDP leader N. Lokesh and his mother, Bhuvaneswari, which led to strong reactions from TDP supporters.
The incident occurred in February 2023 when the TDP office in Gannavaram was vandalized, with vehicles being damaged allegedly by YSRCP supporters and Vamsi’s followers. The police have since been investigating the matter, with multiple arrests made, including Vamsi’s personal assistant, Raja, and other associates.
Vamsi, who switched from TDP to YSRCP in 2020, has been an outspoken critic of TDP leadership. His arrest is likely to have significant political repercussions in Andhra Pradesh. Authorities are expected to produce Vamsi in court shortly, and more details about the ongoing investigation are awaited.
