Vamsi quits TDP, MLA post and politics!

As expected, Telugu Desam Party MLA from Gannavaram assembly constituency Vallabhaneni Vamsi resigned from the primary membership of the party and also his assembly membership.

What is surprising is that he also announced that he would be quitting politics, at least for now.

Vamsi sent his resignation letters to Naidu on Sunday evening, at a time when the TDP chief is spending time with his grandson at Hyderabad to celebrate Diwali.

While thanking Naidu for giving him an opportunity to work under his leadership, the legislator said he had served the party at his best without any regrets and second agenda and successfully completed all his assignments even without batting an eyelid.

“I also have the satisfaction of doing commendable and unparalleled public service as a legislator. But me, my associates and followers are in neck-deep troubles due to the vindictive attitude of local YSR Congress party in-charge and partisan attitude of some government employees,” Vamsi said.

He said he felt their problems would be compounded if he continued at the helm of affairs. Though he had a very strong option, he didn’t want to resort to other hand-twisting tactics because of his conscience.

“Hence, I myself have decided to restrain myself and quit the politics to at least safeguard them, by reducing unnecessary friction and unwarranted animosity. So, I hereby tender my resignation for the post of member of legislative assembly and primary membership of TDP party,” Vamsi said.

Though Vamsi’s resignation from the TDP was anticipated on Saturday itself when he met YSRC president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy along with ministers and friends Perni Nani and Kodali Nani, his announcement that he had quit politics came as a surprise.

Sources, however, said the announcement was made in a strategic move to silence the rising unrest in the rival camp in the YSRC.

“Once the things are settled, he would quietly join the YSRC stating that he is impressed by the policies of Jagan Mohan Reddy government,” a source said.
