Varun Dhawan Slams Media Over Shefali Jariwala Coverage

Actor Varun Dhawan has called out the media for its insensitive coverage surrounding the tragic passing of actress Shefali Jariwala. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Dhawan expressed his dismay over the way media outlets handled the grieving family’s private moments.

“Yet again, another soul’s passing is being covered insensitively by the media. I fail to understand the need to document someone’s grief. Everyone looks uncomfortable, and this does not help anyone,” the 38-year-old actor wrote. “My humble request to my friends in the media — this is not the way anyone would want their final journey to be portrayed.”

Although Dhawan did not mention Jariwala by name, his post came just a day after her untimely demise. The 42-year-old actress was reportedly rushed to a hospital by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, late Friday night. She was declared dead on arrival.

Following the heartbreaking news, several videos surfaced online, showing paparazzi crowding grieving family members. One particularly distressing clip showed Shefali’s mother, Sunita Jariwala, visibly distraught at her daughter’s funeral. Another showed Parag Tyagi folding his hands and requesting privacy as he made his way to Cooper Hospital, where Shefali’s body was taken for post-mortem.

The viral footage sparked backlash against sections of the media, with many netizens echoing Dhawan’s plea for empathy and restraint during times of loss.
