Director Mallidi Vassishta gained recognition with the blockbuster Bimbisara, starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. The film’s unique storyline and strong visual presentation gave Vassishta a solid breakthrough, raising expectations for his future projects.
Following this success, he bagged a prestigious opportunity to direct megastar Chiranjeevi in Vishwambhara. The film created significant buzz due to the fresh combination of a young filmmaker and a senior star. However, the project has been facing multiple delays, with its release schedule shifting several times, placing it in a challenging phase.
Amid this uncertainty, Vassishta is now focusing on his next ventures. He recently met Nandamuri Balakrishna and narrated a new script. Reports suggest Balakrishna appreciated the idea and showed interest in collaborating, generating strong excitement among fans for this potential fresh pairing.
The director is also said to have discussed another story involving Balakrishna’s son, Mokshagna Teja. However, Balakrishna reportedly advised Vassishta to first complete a film with him before moving on to other projects, reflecting his confidence in the director’s storytelling abilities.
If everything falls into place, the Balakrishna–Vassishta project could begin next year. However, Balakrishna is currently occupied with multiple commitments, including projects with directors Gopichand Malineni and Vijay Kanakamedala, with discussions also ongoing about a future collaboration with Vivek Athreya.
Earlier, Vassishta had plans to work with Ram Charan, but the project did not materialize, eventually leading him to direct Chiranjeevi. Now, with multiple opportunities emerging, the director is carefully planning his next phase in Tollywood.
