Senior Tollywood star Venkatesh made a grand comeback this Sankranthi with Vastunnam, which turned out to be a blockbuster hit. Riding high on the film’s success, Venkatesh is now being extremely cautious in choosing his next projects, determined to continue the winning streak. After much thought, he has officially announced his next film under the direction of the “wizard of words,” Trivikram Srinivas.
The Venkatesh–Trivikram film has already begun with a formal pooja ceremony, and reports suggest that shooting will commence in September. Since this marks the first collaboration between Venkatesh and Trivikram, expectations are soaring. Meanwhile, Venkatesh has also been meeting various directors and listening to fresh story ideas to line up more projects.
As part of this, buzz in the industry hints that Venkatesh might team up with veteran director V. V. Vinayak for a mass entertainer. Sources say Vinayak is currently working on a script tailored for Venkatesh and is planning to narrate it to him soon. If everything falls into place, this exciting combination might hit the sets soon.
Interestingly, this potential film would mark the duo’s reunion after 19 years. Their last collaboration was the 2006 blockbuster Lakshmi, which stood out as a milestone in Venkatesh’s career. Though there were speculations about another project after Lakshmi, it never materialized. Now, with reports suggesting that their new film will also be in the same mass-action genre, expectations are naturally higher.
On the other hand, Vinayak has been struggling for form. After the debacle of Inttelligent, he took a long break before attempting the Chatrapathi remake in Hindi, which also failed at the box office. Fans are now curious to see if he can bounce back with Venkatesh and recreate the magic of Lakshmi.
