Acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Vetrimaaran, known for his raw, hard-hitting, and unconventional storytelling, has been caught in a streak of project delays despite announcing multiple high-profile collaborations. After two of his most awaited films — Vaadivaasal with Suriya and Vada Chennai 2 with Dhanush — were stalled due to various issues, he moved ahead and announced a new film titled Arasan with Simbhu (STR) earlier this year.
However, according to reliable Kollywood reports, Arasan has also hit a major roadblock even before going on floors — and this time, the problem isn’t from Vetrimaaran’s end. The project has reportedly been halted due to an ongoing legal dispute between Simbhu and Vels Film International. The shoot, initially planned to begin on Monday, could not commence because of the unresolved tussle.
Back in 2023, Vels approached the Madras High Court seeking a restraining order against Simbhu, claiming that he accepted an advance for a film titled Corona Kumar but failed to begin shooting despite signing a formal agreement. The case is still pending, and its legal implications continue to affect the actor’s new commitments — including Vetrimaaran’s Arasan.
With this, Vetrimaaran faces his third consecutive setback. After the long-stalled Vaadivaasal and the delayed Vada Chennai 2, Arasan has now joined the list of projects unable to move ahead. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the director to return with another powerful film, but the repeated hurdles have left them disappointed.
