A fresh buzz in Bollywood suggests that Vicky Kaushal is in advanced talks to join the sequel to 3 Idiots, tentatively titled 4 Idiots. If the deal goes through, he is expected to step in as the “fourth idiot,” joining the iconic trio.
The film is being developed by Rajkumar Hirani, who is currently working on the script with his long-time collaborator Abhijat Joshi. The makers are reportedly focused on crafting a story that respects the legacy of the original while bringing a fresh perspective for today’s audience.
Sources indicate that Vicky Kaushal was impressed with the narration and is keen on collaborating with Hirani once again. His role is expected to add a new emotional dimension to the narrative, blending with the beloved characters originally portrayed by Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi.
The sequel is likely to pick up nearly a decade after the events of the first film, exploring how the lives of the central characters have evolved over time. Before joining this project, Kaushal is expected to wrap up another film that demands a lengthy shooting schedule.
With a mix of nostalgia and fresh storytelling, 4 Idiots aims to recreate the magic of the original while offering something new for audiences. Production is expected to begin in the latter half of 2027.
