Vignesh Shivan Reveals Shocking Production Journey of LIK

Actor Pradeep Ranganathan, who created a sensation with back-to-back ₹100 crore hits, recently faced a setback with Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), which failed to meet expectations. Despite the actor’s strong fan following, the film opened to decent numbers but couldn’t sustain momentum beyond the weekend.

In Tamil Nadu, the film is performing moderately, while its response in Telugu markets has been largely underwhelming. Director Vignesh Shivan has been активно promoting the film through interviews and promotional events in an effort to boost its reach.

During one such interview, Vignesh Shivan made several surprising revelations about the project. He shared that the film was initially titled LIC, but the team had to change it after facing a massive legal hurdle. When they approached the insurance giant LIC for permission, they were reportedly asked to pay ₹112 crore for using the name. Unable to afford such a huge amount, the team decided to slightly alter the spelling and finalize the title as LIK (Love Insurance Kompany).

He further revealed that the film was originally planned under Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International with a massive budget of around ₹210 crore. However, that plan didn’t materialize as the production house stepped back. Later, another studio came on board, but they too eventually opted out, forcing the team to scale down the budget significantly.

Eventually, producer Lalit Kumar stepped in to back the project. Even during production, financial challenges reportedly continued, prompting Nayanthara to support the film by contributing her advance received for Mookuthi Amman 2. Vignesh Shivan added that this support helped the team complete the film without compromising the core vision.

Despite multiple production hurdles, the director stated that the film was finally completed with a controlled budget of under ₹100 crore.
