Vijay Deverakonda is all set to make a powerful comeback in a raw and intense avatar as Rowdy Janardhana in his upcoming film. The violent drama is directed by Ravikiran Kola of Raja Vaaru Rani Gaaru fame and produced by Dil Raju under the SVC banner. Planned as a Pan India release, the film is scheduled to hit theatres in December 2026.
The title glimpse was unveiled today in Hyderabad amid loud cheers from fans. Releasing a glimpse almost a year ahead signals the makers’ intention for a long and aggressive promotional campaign. The teaser primarily introduces the central character without giving away too much visually. With major portions of the shoot still pending, the team has deliberately chosen to keep the mystery intact.
The story is set in Kalingapatnam, a village seemingly ruled by brutality and fear. The town is populated by people known as rowdies, though they are not criminals by nature—their surname itself is Rowdy. Among them rises Janardhana, played by Vijay Deverakonda, a young man who teaches the true meaning of violence through sheer bloodshed. He does not hesitate to eliminate anyone who stands in his path.
Beneath this terrifying exterior lies a painful childhood shadowed by darkness. The anger born from his early experiences slowly transforms him into a monster. Who Rowdy Janardhana truly is and what drives him toward such destruction will be revealed only when the film releases next year.
The visuals in the teaser are extremely intense, and Christo Xavier’s background score perfectly complements the dark tone of the story. None of the supporting cast, including Keerthy Suresh who plays the female lead, has been revealed yet.
Despite the setback with Kingdom, Vijay Deverakonda is once again venturing into a similar gritty genre, putting in a serious effort for a strong comeback. His transformed physique, sharp moustache, and distinct slang have already impressed fans.
However, the use of a controversial abusive word in the glimpse has raised eyebrows, and it remains to be seen how social media reacts to this choice in the coming days.
