Actor Vijay Deverakonda believes that the gap between North and South cinema is gradually fading, paving the way for a unified Indian film industry. Speaking at TV9’s What India Thinks Today Summit 2025, he shared his perspective on the evolving landscape of Indian cinema, stating, “Maybe in a few years, it will just be called Indian cinema.”

In recent times, South Indian films like Pushpa, RRR, and Kantara have broken linguistic barriers and resonated with audiences across the country. Vijay, who has worked in both Telugu and Hindi films, feels this is just the beginning of a larger shift. He remarked, “The industry is evolving, and while we are in a great phase right now, even bigger changes are on the horizon.”

Reflecting on the journey of Telugu cinema, Vijay highlighted the struggle to reach a wider audience. He cited Baahubali as a game-changer, explaining, “When Baahubali was made, no one knew it would become such a massive success. If it had failed, it could have ended many careers and put immense pressure on the producer. But the team fought for its success, and that effort opened doors for many others.”

He emphasized the need for continuous effort, saying, “We have to fight for our place, fight for attention, and most importantly, fight for love from audiences.”
