Rashmika Mandanna’s first female-centric film The Girlfriend hit theatres last Friday and opened to a positive response. Though the film began with a slow start, it gained strong momentum over the weekend as word of mouth turned highly favourable. On Wednesday, the makers hosted a grand success meet in Hyderabad, where Vijay Deverakonda graced the event as the chief guest.
As everyone knows, rumours about Rashmika and Vijay’s relationship have been circulating for a long time — from dating speculation to engagement buzz. This being their first public appearance together in a while, fans eagerly expected some clarity about their relationship. While neither addressed it directly, their speeches reflected deep mutual admiration.
During her heartfelt address, Rashmika said, “Last but not the least, Vijay… Vijju has been a part of this film from the very beginning, and today he’s here at the success meet too. For me, he’s been part of this whole journey. I just hope everyone has a Vijay Deverakonda in their lives — that’s truly a blessing.”
Responding with warmth, Vijay said, “I’ve seen Rash grow over the years — both as an actor and as a person. While I tend to be aggressive, she always chooses kindness. The world will one day see who she truly is. The Girlfriend isn’t just a film; it’s a purpose. Rash, I’m proud that you’re standing tall with a movie that gives strength to others.”
On the work front, Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are reuniting for a period drama directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film is currently in production and slated for release next year.
