Last year, it was announced that Vijay Deverakonda is teaming up with director Ravi Kiran Kola, known for Raja Varu Rani Garu, for a period action drama produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film has been tentatively titled Rowdy Janardhana, as revealed by Dil Raju on several occasions.
Ravi Kiran made his directorial debut with Raja Varu Rani Garu in 2019, starring Kiran Abbavaram, and later served as showrunner for Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam (2022), featuring Vishwaksen. Both projects were lighthearted village-centric comedy dramas. In contrast, Rowdy Janardhana marks a shift, being an intense period action drama. The director described it as, “What if a fictional character is told in the format of a biopic? That’s Rowdy Janardhana.”
Following extensive pre-production work, the film is now set for its formal launch on Saturday, October 11, in Hyderabad, with the attendance of the cast and crew. While most cast details are being kept under wraps, reports suggest that Keerthy Suresh will star opposite Vijay Deverakonda as the female lead.
Soon after the launch, Within Makers will commence the regular shoot, with the first schedule beginning on October 16 in Mumbai. Vijay Deverakonda, currently shooting for a film directed by Rahul Sankrityayan, will be juggling both projects simultaneously.
On a personal note, Vijay Deverakonda recently got engaged to Rashmika Mandanna, and the couple is reportedly planning to tie the knot in February next year. With two of his films slated for release next year, fans can look forward to an exciting year ahead for the star.
