Once known for their unbreakable camaraderie, the rift between Jagan Mohan Reddy and Vijay Sai Reddy has now widened to the point where they cannot even stand each other. While Jagan subtly suggests that Sai Reddy lost his credibility by leaving the YSR Congress Party (YCP), the latter blames Jagan’s inner circle for pushing him out, asserting that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is still failing to grasp the ground reality.
As the distance between the two continues to grow, another instance of their disconnect surfaced recently. While voicing his opinion on the delimitation issue, Vijay Sai Reddy strategically ignored Jagan and instead extended his support to Telangana leader KTR.
In his tweet, Sai Reddy stated: “I agree with the concerns of all South Indian states that a delimitation based solely on population will hurt us. While these concerns are valid, the statement by HM Amit Shah ji that no South Indian state will lose seats and that a fair increase will take place is also reassuring.”
He further added, “Andhra Pradesh has 4.6% of Lok Sabha seats while Uttar Pradesh has 14.7%. Any increase should maintain the same proportionality in the new Lok Sabha. I also agree with @KTRBRS garu’s suggestion that corresponding MLA seats within states should also increase to bring governance closer to the people.”
Sai Reddy’s endorsement of KTR’s viewpoint, which proposes considering South Indian states’ GDP contribution rather than just population for seat allocation, was evident. However, what stood out was his complete omission of Jagan, despite the fact that Jagan had also written a letter to PM Modi, urging a reconsideration of the delimitation process.
By confining his praise to KTR and deliberately sidelining Jagan, Sai Reddy made it clear that he no longer wishes to associate himself with the AP Chief Minister, further solidifying the political fallout between the two former allies.
