The current Andhra Pradesh government, and its members, especially YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Vijayasai Reddy particularly, were very vocal about the then TDP government’s inability to make sure that the Central government granted the special status to Andhra Pradesh, which it has promised.
Now, the YSRCP government is doing the very same thing, with Vijayasai Reddy’s silence over the issue baffling all. He recently backed the policy that the BJP at the centre introduced for JK and even praised it. The BJP at the centre hiked the allocations for Ladakh and JK, even though Ladakh doesn’t have a capital. Vijayasai Reddy said that the centre should show the same kind of affection and consideration towards other states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and AP, which lost their capitals as well, due to their respective bifurcations.
It is important to note that while Vijaysai said this out loud, he merely mentioned it, but did not stress on it, or put any pressure on the Central government for its implementation. As a result, everyone is wondering why the state government isn’t pressing the Central government on the issue, and conclusions are already being drawn in the matter, that AP wouldn’t benefit from the state in the future.
