With most major films already locking their Sankranthi 2026 slots, the festive season is shaping up to be one of the most crowded in recent years.
Big-ticket releases like Prabhas’s “The Raja Saab” and Chiranjeevi’s “Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu” are set to dominate theaters, while other notable titles such as Naveen Polishetty’s “Anaganaga Oka Raju” are also eyeing strong openings.
Across the border, Tamil stars Vijay and Sivakarthikeyan have confirmed Pongal 2026 releases — “Jana Nayagan” and “Parasakthi”, respectively. However, unlike his previous blockbusters that had simultaneous Tamil-Telugu releases, Vijay’s “Jana Nayagan” may not have a significant Telugu version this time.
Industry insiders reveal that Vijay is channeling his complete focus on ensuring “Jana Nayagan” becomes a massive success in Tamil Nadu, as it marks his final film before stepping into active politics and contesting the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
With this strategic shift toward his home market, trade circles suggest the Telugu release might either be limited, postponed, or possibly skipped altogether. For Vijay, the message is clear — this Pongal, the spotlight firmly stays on Tamil Nadu.
