Vishal Faces Financial Crisis: Court Halts Film Releases

Tamil actor Vishal, known for hits like Naan Sigappu Manithan, Poojai, and several others, has also earned a good reputation among Telugu audiences through his dubbed films. However, the actor-producer currently finds himself in a serious financial dilemma.

Years ago, his production banner Vishal Film Factory took a substantial loan. When things didn’t go as planned, Lyca Productions stepped in and cleared around ₹21 crore. In return, Vishal had agreed to give them the distribution rights of his upcoming films. But that arrangement soon hit a roadblock.

The trouble began when Vishal independently released Vagai Soodum, bypassing the agreement. Lyca Productions reacted by moving to court, claiming a breach of contract and demanding their money back—along with a shocking 30% interest. After months of hearings, a single bench ruled that Vishal must pay ₹21.30 crore plus interest.

The verdict was a bigger blow than any stunt fall Vishal has performed. His team immediately filed an appeal, and his lawyers informed the court, “He’s not wealthy… he cannot pay such a huge amount in one go.” The bench then posed a pointed question: “Is Vishal ready to declare bankruptcy?”—sparking widespread buzz inside the courtroom.

For now, the earlier verdict has been stayed, but there’s a catch. The court has directed Vishal to deposit ₹10 crore immediately. Until the entire loan is settled, films from Vishal Film Factory cannot be released in theatres or on OTT platforms, effectively putting the banner on freeze mode.

On top of that, Kollywood gossip suggests that the actor’s recent engagement to actress Sai Dhanshika could face delays due to the ongoing financial turmoil.
