Vivo has officially launched the X Fold 5 in China, its latest flagship foldable smartphone that brings significant hardware improvements and introduces a first-of-its-kind integration with the Apple ecosystem — including support for the Apple Watch.

Premium Displays and Sleek Design
The X Fold 5 features a large 8.03-inch 2K+ LTPO inner display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive 4,500 nits peak local brightness. The 6.53-inch Full HD+ cover screen also uses LTPO technology, offering the same refresh rate and brightness, ensuring consistent visual fidelity whether folded or unfolded.

Despite its expansive displays and powerful internals, the device maintains a slim 9.2mm profile when closed and weighs just 217 grams, a notable feat for a foldable with a 6,000mAh battery.

Power and Thermal Management
Under the hood, the X Fold 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset — the same silicon found in the X Fold3 Pro — paired with up to 16GB of RAM. To manage heat efficiently, Vivo has incorporated a 20,762mm² vapor chamber (VC) alongside a graphite cooling system, ensuring sustained performance during intensive tasks.

Enhanced Connectivity and Durability
One of the standout innovations is the device’s hinge antenna system, which improves internal space usage while maintaining strong network performance when folded. Coupled with dual-screen enhanced antenna technology, the X Fold 5 offers a 36% improvement in signal strength in folded mode. Vivo, in partnership with Qualcomm, has further optimized network performance through joint signal tuning.

In terms of durability, the X Fold 5 sets new benchmarks for foldables:

IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ water resistance

First foldable with IP5X dust protection

Functional in extreme cold, thanks to antifreeze technology rated down to -20°C

Professional-Grade Imaging
The camera setup includes a triple 50MP rear camera array:

Main: Sony IMX921 sensor with OIS

Telephoto: 3x zoom Sony IMX882

Ultra-wide: 50MP sensor

Both the inner and outer displays sport 20MP selfie cameras, enabling high-quality shots from any angle.

Cross-Platform Software & Apple Ecosystem Integration
A major software highlight is “Atomic Workbench”, a multitasking feature that allows users to run up to five apps simultaneously.

More impressively, the X Fold 5 introduces unprecedented Apple ecosystem compatibility on Android:

Apple Watch connectivity: Answer calls, view messages, and sync health data via the Vivo Health app

Seamless file access from Mac devices

Acts as an extended Mac display

Supports direct iPhone hotspot connections

Native AirPods pairing

iPhone call, message, and notification mirroring

These features make the X Fold 5 a standout for users working across Android and Apple platforms.

Battery and Charging
The foldable is backed by a 6,000mAh battery, supporting 80W wired and 40W wireless charging — among the fastest in the foldable category.

Pricing and Availability
The X Fold 5 comes in Green Pine, White, and Titanium finishes, with the following pricing in China:
