With just over a month left for its release, WAR 2 is yet to generate the kind of buzz one would expect from a big-budget spectacle starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Even as the makers aim to raise expectations, Rajinikanth’s Coolie is dominating headlines and social media, creating waves across languages.
Despite its star-studded casting and grand scale, the teaser of WAR 2 received mixed reactions, failing to spark excitement. Industry sources reveal that the makers are now reworking some portions of the film, including plans to shoot a spectacular song featuring Hrithik and NTR in early July — hoping to add some much-needed wow factor.
Though the film boasts slick action and visual grandeur, it faces an uphill task as it will be clashing with Coolie, which brings together Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Aamir Khan, and other pan-Indian superstars.
In Telugu states, Jr NTR is the only significant crowd-puller for WAR 2, and trade circles suggest that the promotions must now put NTR front and center to make a serious impact. With Bollywood director Ayan Mukerji lacking brand recognition in the South and no Rajamouli-like figure at the helm, the film cannot afford a lukewarm promotional strategy.
Unless the makers go all-out to position NTR as the face of WAR 2 in the South, the movie could lose valuable ground in this crucial market. And with Coolie roaring ahead on all fronts, the real battle might begin even before the first ticket is sold.
