Today we have seen the trailer of “War” coming up wich is also hitting cinemas on October 2nd along with Megastar Chiru’s Sye Raa. While the presence of Hrithik and Tiger Shroff naturally draws attention to War, one wonders if this film is going to be a threat to Sye Raa at the Bollywood box office.
If at all, all the action sequences and terrific visual effects win at the box office, Hollywood films like Mission Impossible and Fast & Furious franchisee would be top grossers in India. That puts us in the case to see if ‘War’ has any drama at all in the movie. apart from these high octane action sequences that are made with Hollywood quality.
Because, the success of movies like Baahubali and KGF should not be attributed to just action-sequences alone, but it is the drama that worked for them in theatres. Cut to Sye Raa, there is plenty of drama in this patriotic films and the makers are betting big on that only.
Also, the story of WAR, where a senior officer turns rogue and his junior is sent to hunt him is sounding very similar to the story of Siddharth Malhotra’s Aiyyyari which failed to click at the box office. Looking at Ek Tha Tiger, they have made Phantom, but that didn’t work. So, we could not straight away write off Sye Raa by looking at War trailer.
On the other hand, as Sye Raa is being released by Ritesh Sidwani and Anil Thadani, there will be no theatre scarcity, so the merit of content will only create the favours in terms of revenues.
