Why Wasn’t Naidu Invited To GES?

There have been several reports in various media and also social media, criticising the Telangana government for not inviting Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to the recently-concluded three-day Global Entrepreneurship Summit held in Hyderabad.

Many felt that it was wrong on the part of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for not inviting Naidu, who was instrumental in making Hyderabad as an IT hub.

The venue of the meeting Hyderabad International Convention Centre at Hitex was also the brainchild of Naidu.

However, there was no clarification from KCR to these reports till now, but surprisingly, it has come from Naidu’s son Lokesh on Friday.

He said the GES-2017 was organised not by the Telangana government but by the US government in collaboration with the Government of India.

“They had selected Hyderabad as the place for holding the summit and hence, they called only the host chief minister,” he explained.

Lokesh pointed out that no other chief minister was invited to the GES.

“So, there is no point in expecting the invitation to Naidu. There is nothing to make an issue out of it. Let us not create controversies on non-issues,” he said.
