The West Bengal government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,which has been opposing the agriculture bills introduced by the Centre took a step to oppose the bills.The government moved a resolution in the state Assembly with a demand to withdraw the farm bills. State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee tabled the resolution in the house.
While tabling the resolution, the Minister called the agricultural bills “anti-farmer” and the bills favour the Corporates.The BJP lawmakers in the House created a ruckus when the Trinamool Congress Minister tabled the resolution against the controversial agriculture bills.
The West Bengal Chief Minister alleged that the farm bills were passed in the Parliament by the BJP with brute force. She urged the Central government to repeal the bills.She urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to chair an all-party meeting on the agriculture bills. He should discuss with the leaders on withdrawal of the controversial bills.
The Chief Minister has also urged the other parties to put their issues aside and come together as a force to fight against the agriculture bills and extend supports to the farmers in this regard.West Bengal is the sixth state to make a move against the controversial bills. Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Delhi have earlier passed resolutions against the bills.
