Plays are a bridge to films for many artistes. In the past, many stage artistes made a name for themselves in films such as Nagabhushanam, Rao Gopala Rao, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sutti Velu, Rallapalli, Tanikella Bharani among others. Jayaprakash Reddy who is often seen playing the Rayalaseema villain says the joy and satisfaction that one gets after a live, stage performance cannot be compared to film acting.
Though he is now much sought-after in the industry and is well-paid, Jayaprakash Reddy started his career as a stage artiste. He was a well-known theatre artiste in Guntur where he was working as a school teacher. After tasting success with Preminchukundam Raa, Jayaprakash Reddy has remained successful over the years.
Luckily for him, there are a few banners that will wait for his dates to commence shooting. Even now, during his spare time, he says he enjoys doing plays. The satisfaction and thrill of being part of a play being performed without any interruptions cannot be compared to film shoots where a cut happens every minute, says Jayaprakash Reddy.
