Why Are Some YSRC Leaders Disgruntled?

The way former minister and YSR Congress party MLA from Venkatagiri assembly constituency Anam Ramnarayana Reddy gave vent to his frustration against the state government on Thursday has triggered a debate in the political circles in the state.

Though Anam did not make any comments against party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, it was pretty evident that he was targeting junior party leaders and ministers in Jagan cabinet who are calling the shots in Nellore district.

His comments clearly indicated that there is obviously something wrong at the field level, though Jagan has by and large been able to win the confidence of the people with his string of welfare schemes.

Not just Anam, a few other YSRC leaders also openly expressed their resentment over the hegemony of some of their party colleagues at the grassroots level, bringing a bad name to the party.

For example, another former minister and YSRC MLA from Kandukuru Manugunta Maheedhar Reddy also expressed anger over the poor implementation of welfare schemes in his constituency due to non-cooperation of the officials. He even staged a dharna in the zilla parishad office in Ongole.

“I have not been able to fulfil even a single promise made to the people in my constituency. I wonder whether it is the same situation in other constituencies,” he regretted.

Another MLA from Vinukonda in Guntur district Brahma Nayudu made serious allegations against his own party colleagues saying the sand trucks leaving Amaravati were not reaching their destination, but were being hijacked midway by sand mafia.

“There is a yawning gap between what is announced at the state level and what is being implemented at the ground level,” he said.

Similar allegations of illegal sand dealings were made by other MLAs of the party.

Even YSRC MP from Narsapuram K Raghurama Krishnam Raju also made wild allegations against the party leaders indulging in sand mafia and largescale corruption in house sites distribution programme.

Though these are sporadic comments being made by the party leaders, but they clearly indicate that all is not well at the ground level.

Even during the TDP regime, there were allegations of massive corruption at the ground level and that ultimately led to the fall of the Naidu government.

So, it is better Jagan focus his attention on preventing such corruption and reining in his own party MLAs who are facing allegations.
