Since the BRS party’s defeat in the 2023 elections, it is K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) who has taken the lead in steering the party’s political resurgence. In the recently concluded Jubilee Hills by-election, KTR—not K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR)—emerged as the primary face of the campaign.
With KCR remaining completely absent from the election trail, KTR carried out an extensive campaign across the urban pockets of the Jubilee Hills constituency, vigorously advocating for the party’s candidate and attempting to consolidate the BRS vote base.
Interestingly, despite being officially listed as one of the BRS star campaigners, KCR did not participate in a single election meeting. This unusual move has triggered public discussion and speculation about whether the former Chief Minister had already sensed the outcome of the contest before polling day.
According to several political analysts, KCR may have evaluated the ground reality and concluded that the seat was unwinnable for the BRS. Some experts believe that KCR might have perceived campaigning in a losing constituency—especially one considered a stronghold of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Congress—as a potential source of embarrassment. They argue that KCR may have chosen to avoid the optics of personally campaigning and still facing defeat, which could further dent his political stature.
This line of reasoning offers a logical explanation for why KCR stayed away from the Jubilee Hills campaign altogether, despite being projected as a star campaigner by his own party.
