Why the Norwegian Ambassador Have Issues With Indian Film?

Biopics and movies based on real-life incidents are a hit formula for Bollywood. Many films became hits and another film joined the list. A recent Bollywood film released last month is based on an incident involving Indian parents in another nation that happened a decade ago.

Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway starring Rani Mukerji is a Bollywood film released in March. The film shows an incident that happened to an Indian woman in Norway in 2011. The film received critical acclaim. However, the film is also facing some criticism. A few have issues with the film and the narration it has.

Common people having issues with a film is common. But an ambassador to a film had issues with the film and said that the film comes with factual inaccuracy and it has a fictional narration of the film and the story. The Ambassador said that what was shown in the film is not right and this needs to be told.

Hans Jacob Frydenlund, Norwegian Ambassador to India found fault with the film and said that it won’t depict Norway’s belief in the value of family life and respect for different cultural systems. He gave an interview with the Indian Express and shared his views on the film. He said that incorrectly depicts Norway’s belief in family life.

“It incorrectly depicts Norway’s belief in family life and our respect for different cultures. Child welfare is a matter of great responsibility, never motivated by payments or profit,” the Ambassador said on Twitter.

To get an idea of the film, we have to first know the plot and story of the film. Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway tells us the real-life story involving an Indian couple that waged a legal fight against the Norway government to get back the custody of their children. Seeing their fight, the Indian government also supported them.

Debika and her husband Aniruddha used to live in Norway. In 2011 the Norwegian authorities took away their children alleging that they are not taking care of the kids. Shocked by this, the Chatterjees started a fight for their kids. The Indian government also joined the row and helped the couple get their kids back.

The film also highlights the dark side of the child custody system in Norway. But the Norway Ambassador is finding fault with the film. No one understands what made him raise injections when the real incident was shown.
