Telangana politicians sure have some strange liking for governor’s post. Several politicians have eyed Governor’s post in the past. While some were lucky, not everyone was as fortunate. Even now, there is lot of politicking going on in the name of governor’s post.
Take for instance, MSR or M Satyanarayana Rao. This senior Congressman had openly expressed a wish to work as a governor. However, his wish was never fulfilled. Earlier Raghunatha Rao and Pendekanti Venkata Subbaiah had worked as Governors. They were Congress stalwarts. Chenna Reddy and Rosaiah too were made governors.
Ever since the BJP became a force to reckon with at the national level, several senior leaders lobbied for governor’s post. V Rama Rao was made Sikkim Governor, while Ch Vidyasagar Rao was governor for Maharashtra. Then, Bandaru Dattatreya was made the governor of Himachal Pradesh.
The latest name gloating around is that of Jana Reddy. The rumour mill is abuzz that the BJP has offered a governor’s post to Jana Reddy in return for his son Raghuveen contesting on BJP ticket from Nagarjunasagar. If Raghuveer becomes a BJP candidate, Jana Reddy would be made a governor in some state. As of now, there is no indication whether Jana has accepted the proposal or not.
