With Etela falling out of favour in the TRS, several leaders, who had all along been feeling stifled by him, are now opening up. Rajya Sabha MP Captain Lakshmikantha Rao, who always felt that Etela Rajender in Huzurabad, has now come out into the open and criticized the former minister. He had accused Etela of trying to oppress all other leaders.
Etela and the Captain are not on best of terms for quite some time. The Captain had always complained that Etela had ignored his supporters in the party. In fact, Etela had promoted dissidence against Captain’s wife and Huzurabad MPP Sarojini Devi in August 2018. Though the no confidence motion brought against Saroniji Devi failed to carry, the enmity stayed. Captain had then accused that Etela was encouraging dissidence against his wife.
Now that Etela is on his way out, it appears the TRS is trying to promote Captain Lakshmikantha Rao as an alternative. The captain has deep links with Huzurabad and runs an engineering college in the town. The captain, his brother V Rajeshwara Rao had represented Huzurabad in the past and had to cede the seat to Etela only after 2014. So, KCR is now bringing Lakshmikantha Rao back into Huzurabad politics as a counter weight to Etela Rajender.
