At present, the USA market for Telugu films is not bright. In the last year, none of the biggies had raked in big money.
In this backdrop, the trade pundits and the industry watchers alike are eagerly awaiting the releases of “Sarileru Neekevvaru” and “Ala Vaikunthapurramloo” to gauge the market.
Will they turnaround the fortunes? What will be the premiere show collections?
Mahesh Babu’s recent release “Maharshi” collected $516k from premiere shows. For a star who is regarded as the king of the overseas market, this was the too low amount.
However, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s period drama “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy” raked in a better amount. It took in $857k from the premiere shows. Even Prabhas’s “Saaho” collected $923k (all languages put together).
Will “Sarileru Neekevvaru” collect bigger amount than “Maharshi” did or will he be lucky enough to touch the $1 million milestone from the premiere shows?
The film is riding on the strength of Mahesh Babu’s charisma and his popularity in the USA market.
Poll: Who Will Win in Sankranthi 2020 Race?
On the other hand, Allu Arjun’s “Ala Vaikunthapurramlo” is betting high on brand Trivikram. Allu Arjun doesn’t have much market in the USA.
It is Trivikram whose name brings bigger openings here. None of Allu Arjun’s film had grossed half a million dollars from premiere shows. Will this be the first 500k premiere number for Allu Arjun?
Another advantage of this Trivikram and Allu Arjun’s movie is Saturday premiere shows.
