Will Prof. Kodandaram’s TJS merge with Kejriwal’s AAP?

The Aam Aadmi Party, it appears, is making big preparations to enter Telangana’s political scene. The AAP’s preliminary surveys have shown that there is a lot of discontent among the sections that had fought for the realization of the Telangana dream. There is also a strong feeling that those who have opposed the TRS are enjoying positions of power.

AAP is trying to capitalize on that. The AAP has already said that it will fight for the cause of the Telangana martyrs. The AAP’s leaders, who are currently visiting various parts of the state, have said that they would make the sacrifices of the martyrs an issue. At the same time, AAP is said to be trying to ensure that smaller parties merge with the AAP.

Sources say that the Telangana Jana Samithi, a party floated by Prof. Kodandaram, is considering merging into the AAP. On Saturday, senior leaders of the TJS have met in a farmhouse in Raviryala to discuss the issue of merging with the AAP. A majority of the party leaders are said to be in favour of merging with the AAP. However Prof. Kodandaram is said to have told them to wait for some more time.

Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is likely to visit Hyderabad soon to give a final shape to this proposal. AAP leaders are said to be in talks with several Left-leaning civl rights groups and small parties like the Mana Inti Party and the TJS.
