Kannada superstar Yash’s mother Pushpa, who is also a film producer, has lodged a police complaint leading to an FIR against five individuals, including a woman. The FIR, filed at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru, names PRO Harish Urs, Manu, Nitin, Mahesh Guru, and Swarnalatha as accused.
Pushpa, who produced the film “Kottalawadi,” alleged that the accused took ₹64 lakh for publicity work but failed to promote the film as promised. Instead, she claims they actively de-promoted the movie, causing damage to the film’s prospects. She further alleged instances of blackmail, threats, and intimidation by the accused.
Speaking to the media, Pushpa explained that Harish initially agreed to handle publicity for ₹23 lakh but continued to take additional payments during the shoot. When the film neared release, Harish allegedly warned the director not to question the accounts, threatening that he could sabotage the film’s publicity.
Pushpa said that once shooting was completed, they again requested proper accounts, but the accused continued their threats and demands. Concerned about the escalating situation, the team obtained a court injunction before filing a police complaint.
She also revealed that Swarnalatha and Mahesh Guru intimidated the director, claiming they had strong media connections and could create negative stories against the team. Pushpa expressed disappointment, stating, “We come from a celebrity family. We don’t want complications, so we chose to file a police complaint.”
According to Pushpa, the alleged blackmail began just one week before the film’s release, and even now, there is no clarity on how the money was utilised. She stated that two associates of Harish had spread false claims that Yash’s family had not made payments.
Pushpa added that negative propaganda was circulated during the film’s release, and she believes several others have also been cheated but are afraid to speak up.
