In the weeks following the Andhra Pradesh election, YSR Congress (YCP) leaders initially pushed a narrative suggesting EVM tampering as the reason for their electoral defeat. However, in a noticeable shift, they have now redirected their focus towards advocating for Jamili elections as their new political strategy.
During a recent media briefing, senior YCP leader Ambati Rambabu, known for his dramatic rhetoric, made a series of bold statements. He issued direct warnings to Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh, cautioning them about “serious consequences” once YCP returns to power through Jamili elections.
“Pawan Kalyan showed his slipper to Jagan while he was the Chief Minister, yet he faced no legal consequences. Ayyannapatrudu used abusive language against Jagan but was later pardoned and given the Speaker post. Chandrababu Naidu himself repeatedly attacked Jagan, yet nothing happened to him. But now, a commoner like Posani Krishna Murali is being harassed with police cases. Let me make this clear—once YCP returns to power, you will pay for your misdeeds,” Rambabu warned.
He specifically targeted Nara Lokesh, claiming that Lokesh is the mastermind behind political arrests. “He is the one dictating who should be arrested and when. Once we return to power, he will face the music, and those abusing power today will be held accountable. Even if Jamili elections don’t happen, the next state election is just 3.5 years away, and they must take note,” he asserted.
Ironically, after enjoying unrestricted power during Jagan’s tenure, YCP leaders are now using the same tactics to issue warnings to the NDA government. However, a crucial aspect to consider is that every YCP leader arrested so far has had a questionable track record, and there is little to no public sympathy for them. This lack of public support could play a significant role in shaping the political landscape in the coming years.
