Deepika Padukone Misses Telugu Projects, Signs Mythological Drama Mahavatar

Deepika Padukone has reportedly missed out on two major pan-Indian Telugu projects due to her specific demands. The actress had requested an 8-hour workday, a larger personal team, and a substantial remuneration package—terms that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Nag Ashwin reportedly found difficult to accommodate.
As a result, Vanga decided not to cast her in Spirit, while Nag Ashwin replaced her in Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 with another actress.
Despite missing these high-profile films, Deepika has not publicly expressed disappointment and continues to maintain her professional approach. This strategy appears to be paying off, as she is currently working on two major projects: a sci-fi entertainer with Allu Arjun directed by Atlee, and King opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
Adding to her slate, Deepika has now reportedly signed a pan-Indian mythological drama titled Mahavatar, in which she will play Dharani, the wife of Lord Parashuram, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal.
