After skipping the Andhra Pradesh Assembly sessions for the past eight months, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy finally made an appearance today—though only for 10 minutes. However, he promptly announced his decision to boycott the session, citing the government’s refusal to recognize him as the Leader of the Opposition.
Reports suggest that Jagan’s brief visit was primarily to record his attendance and avoid potential disqualification. Recently, Deputy Speaker Raghu Rama Krishna Raju stated that an MLA could face disqualification if absent for 60 consecutive days. In this context, Jagan’s presence today is widely seen as a strategic move to secure his position in the Assembly.
However, a new twist has emerged—Assembly officials may not validate Jagan’s attendance. As per reports, today’s session was merely a preliminary meeting ahead of the Budget Sessions starting February 25. Since it was not an official part of the Assembly proceedings, Jagan’s attendance may not be recorded in the official logs. If this happens, he could once again face the risk of disqualification due to insufficient attendance.
With Telugu news channels actively covering this development, all eyes are now on the Assembly Secretariat to see if they will officially invalidate Jagan’s attendance. If they do, it could lead to further political controversy in Andhra Pradesh.
