YSR Congress Faces Setback as Key Spokesperson Ravichandra Reddy Joins BJP

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh is experiencing significant turmoil following the 2024 elections, as a steady stream of senior leaders continues to depart. This trend, which has already seen the exodus of former public representatives, now extends to grassroots supporters, signaling deeper issues within the party.

In a significant development, Karumuri Ravichandra Reddy, the party’s official National Spokesperson, and a prominent voice for YSRCP, has resigned from his post. Reddy submitted his resignation letter directly to the party’s president, Jagan Mohan Reddy. Soon after, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in a formal ceremony attended by Daggubati Purandeshwari.

This swift transition raises questions about the timing of his departure, suggesting that Reddy had been planning this move for some time. A staunch supporter of Jagan Mohan Reddy and a vocal advocate for the party across both regional and national media, his exit comes as a blow to YSRCP, which is already grappling with a shortage of influential leaders.

It has been speculated that Reddy’s resignation was driven by his opposition to the dominance of lower-cadre leadership within the party, a factor that had reportedly caused growing dissatisfaction. Although he had considered leaving months ago, he ultimately chose today to make his move, signaling a critical moment for the party.
