Renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli has often cited Hollywood director James Cameron as a major inspiration. After the global success of RRR, Rajamouli not only earned worldwide recognition but also shared a brief one-on-one interaction with Cameron. The Avatar filmmaker praised Rajamouli highly after watching RRR, further strengthening their connection.

According to recent reports, fans may soon witness a collaboration of sorts between Rajamouli and Cameron. The first look teaser of Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi is expected to be attached to Cameron’s next release, Avatar: Fire and Ash, hitting theaters on December 19, 2025.

If Varanasi’s teaser indeed premieres alongside Avatar 3, it will be a proud moment for Indian cinema and highlight Rajamouli’s global stature. The teaser may be presented alongside other major projects like Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Doomsday, and Steven Spielberg’s upcoming UFO film, amplifying anticipation for Indian audiences worldwide.

Varanasi is being developed as a global project and stars Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. The film is slated for a worldwide release in 2027. It is jointly produced by KL Narayana and SS Karthikeya, with music composed by MM Keeravani, promising a cinematic experience of international scale.
