The YSR Congress is planning to move the court with regard to Lok Sabha polls in Guntur and Srikakulam constituencies. A decision to this extent was taken by party chief and Chief Minister-designate Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. The YSRCP would approach the court in a couple of days, according to Modugula Venugopal Reddy and Alla Rama Krishna Reddy.
Venugopal Reddy said that he had discussed the issue with their party chief and would challenge the victory of Galla Jayadev from Guntur. He alleged that 9,500 postal ballot were not counted. He blamed the polling officials for his defeat and found fault with them for declaring the result without counting the postal ballot. He said that he took the issue to the notice of the returning officer. ‘However, the RO did not pay attention to my words,’ he said.
Of the total 25 MP seats in the state, the YSRC won 22 leaving the remaining three to the TDP, which won them with a slight majority. The Lok Sabha constituencies won by the TDP include Guntur, Srikakulam and Vijayawada.
In Srikakulam too, the TDP won with a very thin majority and hence, the YSRC is planning to approach the court seeking recounting of votes in this constituency too. The two YSRCP MP aspirants are confident that they would emerge victorious if recounting is done and hope that the court would do justice to them.
However, the TDP leaders did not make any comments regarding the issue. After the humiliating defeat in the polls, the TDP leaders are preferring to be silent. Before counting and after the polls, the TDP raised its voice against tampering of electronic voting machines. The party chief, N. Chandrababu Naidu, even drew support of all the regional parties in the country regarding the EVM tampering and fought with the Election Commission of India.
He even filed a case in the court regarding the same. However, after the humiliating defeat in the polls, the TDP leaders are not voicing their opinions. In fact, the party supremo called for a meeting on May 29th with the MLAs to analyse the reasons for the rout.
