The YSRCP, headed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, won by a vast majority in rhe 2019 general elections, having defeated the Telugu Desam Party. Ever since the YSRCP government was formed things have been here and there, to say the least. In the two and a half years since coming to power, the YSRCP has earned itself a very infamous name, due to its various schemes and decisions.
When a survey was conducted in May this year, it was said that the YSRCP continues to be a favourite among the people of the state. However, just two months later, from a survey conducted by the same company that conducted the previous survey, it was concluded that the YSRCP’s popularity is dipping, and that anti-government feelings were developing in the public. According to the latest survey, nearly 60 MLAs would be defeated if the party went for a by-election right now, and 9 out of 25 ministers would be defeated, while 6 would have to go through a tough fight. It is being said that the CM is now planning to replace all these ministers, in order to gain the confidence of the people.
On the other hand, the YSRCP government is said to have been advised not to be confident that they will win because they are the ruling party currently, as the TDP faced very similar situations in the past. TDP is said to be gaining support in North Andhra and Godavari districts once again, and even in Nellore, where it doesn’t have a single seat, while the YSRCP’s situation is said to be worsening in Guntur and Krishna districts. In Rayalaseema, TDP is said to be strengthening in Anantapur, while Kadapa and Chittoor are expected to lean towards the YSRCP. With so much at stake, YSRCP’s future seems to be a question mark.
