Veteran Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has opened up for the first time about his divorce from Dhanashree Verma, firmly denying all cheating allegations and sharing the emotional struggles he faced during that phase of his life.
Speaking candidly on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Chahal said, “I have never cheated. You won’t find a more loyal person than me.” He revealed that both he and Dhanashree chose to keep their separation private until the divorce was finalized, maintaining a normal presence on social media to avoid unnecessary public speculation.
Expressing his frustration over false accusations, Chahal added, “I have two sisters, I know how to respect women. Just because I’m seen with someone doesn’t mean there’s a relationship.”
The cricketer also spoke about the toll this personal crisis took on his mental health. Chahal admitted to battling intense anxiety, sleepless nights, and even suicidal thoughts during that period. “Same anxiety, crying for two hours, only 2-3 hours of sleep… it felt never-ending,” he said. “I took a break from cricket because I didn’t want the team to suffer.”
His honest and emotional revelations have sparked a wider conversation about mental health, particularly the pressures athletes face beyond the field.
