Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 finally hit theatres this week with grand premieres after facing multiple delays that had dampened pre-release expectations. Despite mixed reviews, the film has surprised trade circles by registering a strong opening at the box office.

According to early trade estimates, Akhanda 2 collected over ₹40 crore gross worldwide on its opening day. With premiere show revenues included, the total is expected to cross the ₹50 crore mark, though official figures from the producers are still awaited. The film has witnessed an especially robust response in B and C centres, reaffirming Balakrishna’s enduring mass appeal.

While comparisons with the first instalment and criticism have surfaced, the sequel appears to be resonating well with its core audience. The film’s mass moments and devotional undertones are emerging as key strengths.

However, collections from dubbed versions in other languages have fallen short of initial expectations. Despite some promotional efforts in the Hindi belt, outreach in other regions remained limited.
