Rajasthan Hit-and-Run Turns Out to Be Chilling Honeymoon Murder Plot

What initially appeared to be a tragic hit-and-run case in Rajasthan has now unraveled into a chilling murder conspiracy, drawing unsettling parallels to the infamous Meghalaya honeymoon killing. The case has shocked many due to the calculated manner in which the crime was allegedly planned and executed.
On a Friday evening, newlyweds Ashish and Anju were reportedly out for a walk when a vehicle allegedly hit them. Ashish died on the spot, while Anju claimed she was robbed of her gold jewellery and left unconscious on the roadside. Her account initially led police to treat the incident as a road accident followed by robbery.
However, the investigation soon took a dramatic turn. Police now allege that Anju had conspired with her boyfriend Sanju and two others to murder her husband and stage the crime as a hit-and-run. The case has since been dubbed the “Rajasthan honeymoon murder.”
According to Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan, authorities received information around 9 pm on January 30 about a couple lying unconscious on the road. Both were rushed to a nearby Community Health Centre, where doctors declared Ashish dead on arrival.
Anju initially told police that an unidentified vehicle had hit them and that she was robbed during the incident. However, investigators began noticing major inconsistencies in her statements. The medical examination revealed clear injury marks on Ashish’s body, including signs of strangulation, while Anju showed no visible injuries—raising immediate suspicion.
Further probing revealed that Anju had been in frequent contact with Sanju, who lived near her hometown, even after her marriage. On the night of the incident, police allege that Anju deliberately took Ashish to a deserted road, where Sanju and his accomplices—Rocky (also known as Rohit) and Badal (alias Siddharth)—were lying in wait.
The accused allegedly attacked Ashish, strangled him to death, and then attempted to pass off the murder as a road accident. To strengthen the robbery angle, Anju is said to have handed over her mobile phone and earrings to the attackers and pretended to lose consciousness after the assault. However, her shifting versions of events, combined with forensic evidence, ultimately exposed the plot.
All four accused have now been arrested, bringing the disturbing conspiracy to light and sending shockwaves across the state.
