On the professional front, Rajinikanth is currently filming Jailer 2, an action drama directed by Nelson, slated for a June 2026 release. In a trending video, he remarked, “Fifty years in cinema felt like just 10 or 15 years. If there are 100 more lives, I would want to be born as an actor, and as Rajinikanth. All this honour goes to the cinema industry and mainly to the Tamil people, the gods who keep me alive.”

Meanwhile, speculation around Thalaivar 173 is gaining momentum. With director Sundar C reportedly stepping away from the project, filmmaker Ramkumar Balakrishnan of Parking fame is said to be the frontrunner to take over. Adding to the anticipation, rumours suggest Sai Pallavi may star as the female lead opposite Rajinikanth.
