Brahma Anandam Movie Review: Good Story Bland Narrative
Brahma Anandam is a special film as it has Brahmanandam and his son Raja Gautham playing lead roles. The film has been promoted a lot in the last few days and it is now in theaters. Priya Vadlamani and Vennela Kishore play key roles in this film and let’s review it here.
Story
Brahmanandam(Raja Goutham) is a theater artist who is struggling to get a break in his career. One fine day, he meets his grandfather Anandam(Brahmananadam) who is in an old age home. The latter tells his grandson that if he comes to his village and helps him out with a special task, he will pay for his theater play sponsorship. Hiked on this, Brahmananadam accompanies his grandfather to only the actual truth behind his grandfather’s visit. What did the grandfather plan for his grandson and how things changed is the basic story of the film.
What about on-screen performances?
The main hero of the film is Raja Gaoutham and he gets a tailor-made role to showcase his talent. After a long gap, he is making a comeback and is amazing as the frustrated actor.
How he showcases frustration, love for his grandfather in the latter half,f and dances in songs is quite good. He has improved a lot with his acting.
Brahmanandam gets a mature character and does justice to it. Though he is not agile like before, he does well. A few comedy scenes with his son Raja Goutham have been designed well.
Vennela Kishore is very good in his role and evokes decent laughs. After a long gap, he gets a full-fledged character and does justice to it. His comedy with Raja Goutham was good.
Priya Vadlamani is impressive as the girl next door. However, she did not get enough screen space to showcase her talent. Rajeev Kanakala and Sampath were decent in their roles.
What about off-screen performances?
RVS Nikhil has directed the film and the story that he has chosen is very good on paper but that did not transform on the big screen. The movie is not fully comedy and emotional and is stuck in between.
One of the biggest drawbacks is the emotional bonding between the characters. For the film to click there needed to solid play of emotions between Brahmanandam and Raja Goutham but that does not happen as the chemistry is missing in the key characters.
Also, the pace of the film is quite lengthy and does not come to its actual point right away. The music composed by Sandilya is neat and the background neatly enhances the emotions.
The camera work and production values are very good as the small-town setup is showcased well. The editing could have been a lot better.
Having said this, the interval twist is very good, and a few comedy scenes in the second half gel with the narrative. But the climax is not that great as things are just hurried.
There is no seriousness in the proceedings, which quickly brings the film down. If the character depth had been a lot better, things would have made sense.
What’s Hot.?
1.Basic Storyline
2.Raja Goutham performance
3.Vennela Kishore’s comedy
What’s Not.?
1.Slow Pace
2.Emotional depth
3.Predictability
Verdict:
Overall, Brahma Anandam is a family drama about finding love at any age. Though the plot is very good, the narration is bland. A few comedy scenes click but the needed emotion goes missing.
