DSP Career Shift Sparks Industry Buzz

Music director Devi Sri Prasad appears to be gradually steering his career in a new direction with some of his recent choices. The composer recently surprised many by stepping into a lead acting role in the upcoming film Yellamma, a move that has sparked both curiosity and debate within the industry.
While the decision has generated interest, it has also led to speculation about whether his focus is slowly shifting from full-fledged music composition to acting. Crafting chart-topping songs is one aspect of filmmaking, but delivering an impactful background score demands extensive time, patience, and deep creative involvement throughout the production process.
Industry observers feel that DSP seems less inclined toward that demanding side of music composition in recent times. This perception has gained traction following certain developments. He was reportedly sidelined from handling the background score of Pushpa 2: The Rule, and now the background score responsibilities for Ustaad Bhagat Singh have reportedly been assigned to S. Thaman. In both cases, DSP is said to have composed only the songs.
These developments have triggered discussions in film circles, with some suggesting that DSP may be entering a transitional phase in his career. However, whether this marks a strategic reinvention or a gradual shift away from being a leading music composer remains to be seen.
