Rakul Preet Praises Tollywood’s Unity Over Bollywood

Rakul Preet Singh has sparked a fresh discussion on the differences between Bollywood and South Indian cinema, stating that she finds the Telugu film industry more united and supportive compared to the Hindi film fraternity.

Having worked successfully across both industries, Rakul shared her views on the work culture in Tollywood, highlighting how actors, filmmakers, and producers openly celebrate and support each other’s projects. She said the Telugu film industry has built an environment where professionals promote one another’s films, attend events, and appreciate each other’s achievements despite competing at the box office.

In an interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Rakul reflected on her journey that began with the Kannada film Gilli, followed by her successful stint in Telugu cinema before making her Bollywood debut with Yaariyan in 2014. She credited Tollywood’s collaborative atmosphere as one of its biggest strengths.

According to Rakul, the Telugu film fraternity regularly extends support through trailer launches, promotional events, and social media promotions, creating a stronger sense of unity among industry members.

At the same time, she pointed out that insecurity within Bollywood often prevents similar levels of support among actors and filmmakers. Rakul expressed her opinion that negative publicity and internal competition sometimes overshadow collaboration in the Hindi film industry, adding that Bollywood could benefit from adopting a more supportive approach.

Her comments have triggered a debate among cinema audiences, with many Telugu film fans appreciating her remarks about Tollywood’s work culture, while others questioned whether comparisons between the two industries are completely fair.

On the professional front, Rakul was last seen in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Sara Ali Khan. She is also reportedly associated with Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash. Though her role has not been officially confirmed, reports suggest that she may portray Surpanakha in the mythological epic.

Rakul’s statements have once again brought focus to the evolving dynamics of Indian cinema and the importance of collaboration and mutual support in strengthening film industries.
