AP Govt extends support to State bandh against VSP privatisation

The Andhra Pradesh government has extended its support for the state bandh tomorrow against the decision to privatise the Visakhapatnam steel plant. AP transport minister Perni Nani said that the YSRC government would co-operate with the bandh as the ruling party strongly opposes the privatisation of the VSP.

While extending support to the proposed State bandh, Nani said RTC buses would be stopped till one o’clock tomorrow afternoon in the wake of the bandh. He also said that RTC staff were instructed to attend duties with black badges as a protest against the Centre’s decision.

Perni Nani has also urged the central government to reconsider the privatization of the Visakhapatnam steel plant. He appealed to the centre to think of alternative ways rather than privatisation. Meanwhile, Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA) has extended total support to the bandh that is being organised on March 5.
